- John B Allender is shown at the age of 9 on the 1850 Census with his parents, sisters, and grandparents living in Pennsylvania. The family has not been found on censuses for 1860 or 1870. On the 1880 Census he is age 40 and is shown working on a farm near Hawkins Tennessee. On the 1900 and 1910 Censuses he is shown living with his sisters, and he is first, in 1900, a publisher of a news paper and then, in 1910, an editor of a newspaper, at ages 60 and 70 respectively. After that he and his older sister Mary J., or Jennie as she came to be known, must have died. On the 1920 and 1930 censuses, the younger sister, Kate, appears on the censuses without family.
