    Notes
    • A William Allender is named as one of her children in the will of Anna (Day) Allender in 1804. He appears on the 1790 Census for Washington County as one of the sons under the age of 16 in the Allender household. On the 1810 Census he is probably the William shown to be living 17 places from Richard and he is now between the age of 26-44, with a wife of about the same age, and with a son age 16-25, a son age 10-15, a daughter age 10-15, and 3 children under the age of 10 (2 girls and 1 boy). His houshold along with that of James are the only Allenders still showing in Washington County on the 1820 Census and both are spelling their names as Allinder. William is at Cavetown, but it is impossible to read the notations. It does appear that he has 2 sons in the age group of 16-24.
William's wife may be the Rachel whose letter in 1836 to Thomas Allender, b. 1773, is cited below. Its recipient, Thomas, is thought to have married Elizabeth Fore (one of his three wives), making him Rachel's brother-in-law if she is a Fore, and a sister to Elizabeth. This Elizabeth Fore is thought to be a sister to Margaret Fore who married Thomas Allender (b. 1784). If this proves out we would have a repeat of the earlier situation of 3 Day sisters marrying Allenders. The two nephews referred to in the letter could be John (b. 1797) and William (b. 1806) sons of Richard (b. 1767)
"The letter I have is signed by "Sister Rachel Allinder", "Brother Thomas Allinder"* "Margaret Webb"** and "Margaret Foster". It also mentions "Sister Sally", "Mrs. Thomas Charlton**" and her son "Edward" of "New Lisbon Town Columbiana County, State of Ohio". There are also two nephews mentioned ... John and William. The letter I have from 1836 has my Thomas already living in Elkton, Kentucky. It's posted from Cavetown, Washington Co, Maryland. I'm assuming his sister, Rachel, didn't stray too far from home. Other than that, I have not been able to locate any further details on Thomas' parents. I've always thought that it was William, but have never had solid proof." --Lisa Conway, email
William (b. 1734) would have to be the father of Thomas (b. 1773) as shown from Census listings for that line.
