    • William Alexander Allender was born on board ship on the trip over from Ireland, according to his son, David Allender. Also his niece, Elizabeth, oldest daughter of his younger brother, John, provides this information on the 1880 Census about her father. She may have been confused and meant her father's brother.
      On the 1840 census William and his wife are shown in the same age category, and they have Perry age 1, Elizabeth age 5, Boston age 9, David age 11, John D. age 13, and Mary Jane age 20.
      By this time they would have lost several children: Elenor, their first born lived only two days, Thomas Jones, died at 4 months in Feb 1828, and Sarah died at two in Feb 1840.
