17 | Joseph M Allender Gravestone Joseph M Allender was the son of Nicholas Bowen Allender. He worked the earth at the Allender farm in Maryland until it was sold in the 1940's while my grandfather, Howard, was on Saipan. It was divided in to three parcels, but there are roads along two of the original boundaries. As stated in his obituary, he was known as the Potato King of Maryland. "Uncle Joe" was a very cordial and polite man.
