Joshua Allender is the son of the immigrant William Allender, who died in 1698 in Maryland, and is referred to as the "known" son, since he is identified as such in the Records of Maryland's Heraldic Families. He married Mary Nixon on 17 Dec 1733. Joshua and Mary settled on a part of Bond's Manor in Harford County, Maryland.
The following concerns Joshua and where he lived:
The Allenders came out of Burlington County, New Jersey. Joshua’s marriage to Mary Nixon in 1733 is recorded there. Joshua Allender died in 1749. His will shows he was a Forge man and his inventory is signed by Thomas Allender and Joseph Allender with the notation “nearest of kin".
The Onion Iron Works, a furnace and forge, was located on the west side of the west branch of the Gunpowder where Highway Seven crosses the river. Stephan Onion died at his ironworks in August 1754. The property was auctioned off. It had been run on a grand scale, denuding the surrounding countryside of it’s forest, which caused great erosions and eventually silting in the harbor at Joppa causing its demise. Baltimore City grew out of this disaster.
Joshua, Joseph, Thomas and John Allender probably worked at the Onion Iron Works. They were certainly in the area at the time. Thomas and John Allender probably plied there trade at the Cumberland Forge on the north side of Deer Creek. It was north of Joppa about twelve (12) miles and is the only forge shown on Deer Creek on old maps [U.S. Geological Survey Map. Code name Edgewood, Maryland] --"Legend" / R.E. Allender (1993)
In his will, dated 3/6/1748 in Cecil County, Maryland, Joshua named four children: William (b 1739), Mary (m. Peter Body), Joshua, Jr (died in 1749), and Nicholas (b. 1745). In his will, he also named his nephew, Joshua III (m. Averilla Day):

Mary Allender, with Thomas and Joseph Allender; estate administered on 25 March 1749, by which date one of his children had died; bond posted Aug 1749 by Thomas and Joseph Allender to pay orphans of deceased Joshua: William, Mary and Nicholas; had issue: WILLIAM; MARY (possibly the Mary who married Peter Body on 25 Aug. 1757); JOSHUA, deceased by Mar. 1749; NICHOLAS, over 14 in Nov. 1759 when he chose Thomas Sligh as his guardian (5; 11; 37:6; 171; 44; 131) --Baltimore County Families / Robert W.
